Welcome to our October Issue, all about YOU.

This issue is all about what makes you tick, your "motive:

1.Something that causes a person to act in a certain way, do a certain thing, etc.; incentive.

2. The goal or object of a person's actions: Her motive was revenge.

It takes a certain personality, a certain drive to serve, something different about you. It turns out that many of you who serve in your community have already served the nation. In the United States, 1 in 4 LEOs are veterans, 1 in 5 Firefighters and 1 in 10 EMS personnel. And from our research, this is the trend globally.

This work has to be a calling, some irresistible force that draws brave and selfless men and women to its flame. So, we asked, “Why do you do this? Why do you do what you do?” We posed this question to the national trainers that participate in the Expo Series. And they responded- and you just need to read their reasons; we want to know your reasons, please email us, or contact us with what drives YOU.

Also in this issue- The September Region IV Expo hosted the launch of the new Vyper Adamas TULV (Tactical Ultra Light Vehicle)! Visit the article for a short video of this vehicle taking on some crazy terrain. Seriously, just watch the video. Then contact Sarah Chapman for details... Rebecca from Bradford Heath writes about a very special program for first responders having some struggles at work, because the “thing” that drives you may also deter you from seeking help when you need it. But you are never alone. Finally, our At the Region feature continues with Region VI, the requirements for firefighter certifications in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico.

But enough about us! This issue is about YOU. Time to dig out the jackets already, and several places already had snow! Thanks so much for reading and have a safe October.

With warmest regards,

Dawn
